Google Pixel 2 to launch October 4

Search giant Google’s upcoming Pixel smartphones are a couple of weeks away from being launched and the leaks are pouring in.

According to a listing by FCC(via Android Central), the bigger variant of the Pixel smartphone, Pixel 2 XL, will be manufactured by LG. The Pixel 2 smartphone too was spotted in the FCC listing recently giving hints on the Android OS version and what could be one of key highlight of the device.

The certification process shows some of the screenshots from the upcoming handset’s Settings page, suggesting it (or at least one of the variants) to sport 64GB of inbuilt storage. It is worth adding here that this is one storage tier that is missing from the Pixel and the Pixel XL. Both come in 32GB and 128GB inbuilt storage variants.

The screenshot interestingly reveals the smartphone running on Android 8.0.1, which in all likeliness will be a maintenance update over the Android 8.0. Screenshots also confirm the arrival of August 5 Android security patch level.
Google’s upcoming Pixel smartphones will be launched on October 4 as the company revealed in a video posted on YouTube.
The date was also mentioned on a billboard (shared by Droid Life) put up by Google in Boston, US. The billboard though doesn’t really mention the smartphones, it reads, “Ask more of your phone,” along with the ‘G’ logo and the date “Oct. 4.”

It is worth noting that Google last year also launched its Pixel 2 and the Pixel XL 2 smartphones on October 4. This date, however, contradicts the date that the tipster Evan Blass claimed last month in a tweet. He tweeted that the smartphones will be launching a day later and with Qualcomm Snapdragon 836 processor.
