Google Assistant to be included in LG’s 2018 TV lineup
With CES starting in a few days, LG has announced its full TV listing for the 2018 fiscal year. LG announced it’s monstrous 88 Inch 8k OLED TV on the 30th of December 2017 and will be displaying the monstrosity in the Las Vegas show this year.
LGs lineup will feature the return of the “Wallpaper” OLED, which garnered significant attention and critical acclaim last year, along with three other OLED models and a full suite of LG Super UHD LED televisions.
This year LG claims a lineup of significantly faster processors, better picture quality, overall performance and the addition of Google Assistant to the company’s smart TV platform, webOS.
LG’s new a9 intelligent processor will mean better color rendering and super fast smart TV operation for LG W8, E8, and C8 OLED TV owners, and a slightly scaled-down version will run the B8 OLED and LG’s Super UHD TV line.
The addition of Google Assistant will introduce voice controlled searches and commands utilizing Google’s advanced AI platform. So in other words, you’ll be able to tell your TV to play you music or turn down the volume or simply turn itself off or on. You would also be able to do other stuff like check the traffic situation, order an Uber, view your Google Photos and much more.
LG says that its TVs will also be compatible with Amazon’s Alexa.
We will also see the addition of high frame rate (HFR) enabling native playback of content at 120 frames per second (fps). It’s important to note, however, that none of LG’s 2018 TVs support HDMI 2.1, so 120 fps for game consoles won’t be possible with any of these models — 120 fps content will only be available via streaming.
